This 19 year old female is beautiful.  Well, until she opened  her mouth. Yuck!
She says she brushes but we've all heard that line before.
Plaque, calculus, generalized heavy bleeding not to mention the putrid breath, speak volumes.

I like to call her a RDH's  SRP  "Wonderland of Fun".
All the calculus popped right off with the Cavitron and minimal handscaling. Periodontally speaking she had gereralized psuedopockets and no bone loss.  Basically, she bled like a stuffed pig and should respond very well to the treatment as long as she follows through with proper homecare and three month recalls.

For those of you that need a little help with the dental lingo:  scaling and root planning (ie: SRP) is a deep cleaning and boy did this chick need one.  Oral hygiene instructions were reviewed prior to patient dismissal on each visit just to reinforce them.

Drum roll please.......

Well I think I did a good job.  :)

These final photos were from the appointment for the SRP of the maxillary and mandibular left quads.  The maxillary and mandibular right had to be lightly handscaled and polished again because she was still lacking in the oral hygiene department.  Oral hygiene instructions were enforced, again.

The patient was placed on three month perio maintenance regimen.   She's due back in to the office in June.  I hope she shows up, I would love to see how well she maintained her teeth.
